Loved the one I bought from the store several years ago I had a Reynold's HandiVac for *years* that worked great and was sad when Reynolds decided to discontinue the product. I figured out that you can get replacement bags from Debbie Meyer so I was all set for a while. Then unfortunately my Vac got contaminated with chicken juice and I didn't think it was safe to use anymore. So I was thrilled to see that they were still being sold on Amazon. However after two tries from two different vendors I am not going to order this product again because both came with corroded batteries and didn't work. My suspicion is that what they are selling are really old units that were not stored properly leading to the corrosion. I guess I'm going to be looking for a new vaccuum sealing system. RIP Reynold's HandiVac.
WORK GREAT!!! I received this as a Christmas gift at least 34 years ago and never used it. So I just took it out today to try it on all these leftovers. It worked perfect! No problemeven with the existing batteries. There was a tab that I just pulledI guess so the batteries would work.after all these years.The only thing I am sorry about is that I didn't try this earlier.
Handivac works well This does work well. Not had any problems with sealing don't over fill. I wash and reuse the bags tho it takes 34 days to dry properly.
One Amazing Little Machine I use this HandiVac with the Debbie Myers bags. Unlike some users I just changed the batteries after more than a year. OK. They probably could have been changed earlier when I started getting iffy results but it didn't occur to me immediately that the batteries were the issue. I like this system better than the Food Saver bags because they can be resealed after removing some of the contents. I have been buying large packs of meat at the wholesale club and divvying them up to freeze. I have been MORE than happy with the long term storage. No ice crystals or freezer burn. I love it.
Genius Vac This is the best food sealer on the market at the best price. Wish they would make it available to more people.
I love this product. This product s great!!! I have had a problem finding the bags but I purchased some Ziploc bags and they work just as well. Very economical.

Terrible Unfortunately I have to join the chorus of disappointed customers who have a terrible experience with this. In a word this is a piece of junk. Rather than repeating what all other 1start reviewers have wrote I would only state for the record that I've had identical experiences. Don't buy this it's garbage.
A must for any kitchen This is my second Handivac I broke the 1st one accidentally after about 8 years of ownership. Even though I also own a big sealameal this item is so handy for smaller portions as I can remove part and then easily reseal. I find it perfect for onions where I have used only onehalf or so. I seal it use some more and then reseal.
does not work for long When its new it works fine. But the trouble is it doesn't last very long. We used ours for a couple weeks and were happy with it. Then it just stopped working. Changed the batteries several times but no luck. Wrote to the company and they said 30day guarantee and that's it. It's a cheap product.

Didn't Work WE used/tried to use the sealer after receiving it yesterday. After trying several times to vacuum seal a bag following all the directions & using troubleshooting it just wouldn't work/seal after vacuuming the air. We tried everything & finally had to use the seal only button after the air was somewhat removed. We purchased this elsewhere but wanted to warn others about the fact that IT JUST DOESN'T WORK! I would have given it no stars if it were an option.
Bags don't hold a seal We got this sealer as part of a package deal with the Sous Vide Supreme water oven and some Sous Vide Supreme vacuum sealer bags.For FREEZER / PANTRY STORAGE our machine is not functional. We've sealed ten bags for the freezer. All of them start out looking good but not one of them held the seal airtight overnight.For SOUS VIDE it can be made to work. We've found sealing each bag three times at each end holds the seal long enough to cook the food.
Cheap and not durable Bought the Sous Vide Supreme and sealer as a package about a month ago.At first the vacuum sealer worked fine but after several uses 10 times or so the sealer doesn't work as well as when it was new. Now the vacuum seal function is inconsistent. Sometimes it seals sometime it doesn't. You have to manually press 'seal' during the suction or it'll auto shut leaving the bag unsealed. Agreed with a lot of reviewers that this vacuum sealer does not work well at all with liquid in the bag. Yet SVS website recommends recipes with meat/fish in marinate while sealing. For those recipes I now notice they use a professional cryovac machine and not this piece of cr*p.
Don't bother with this ineffective toy One of the worst designed products I've seen in a while. Got it anyway despite the reviews because it matched the Sous Vide Supreme. While that is an amazingly designed product that's built well this is a disaster. The main sealer gaskets will fail almost immediately stick together or disintegrate necessitating ad hoc repairs that look uglier and uglier. I have to hold it down with all my weight now to get it to vacuum seal. Made of cheap plastic it's an unworthy companion to the main cook chamber. Take my word select another sealer from someone else.
Sealer stopped working after a few months. The sealer worked adequately at first. I'll agree with some other reviewers that you had to be careful with any amount of liquid in the bag but we found that refrigerated [nonfrozen] meat worked fine.However after about six months [say 2530 uses] it completely stopped working. Makes a loud noise but doesn't create a vacuum or do any sealing. Very frustrating.
Just doesn't work Got this unit for use with the SousVide Demi and while the water bath works great the vacuum sealer does not. The vacuum mechanism chokes on even the smallest amount of liquid such as the marinade left after draining the marinated meat and I only got the Vacuum and Seal feature to work once on a ribeye. Didn't work on any other dish on at least a dozen attempts. The Seal mechanism often left air holes no matter how careful I was.To be fair I don't know if other vacuum sealers work better but I am returning this and intend to find a better rated and functional unit.
Bad product Any amount of liquid is fatal after some accidents now the machine is not capable of producing a vaccuum. Also for the seal you usually have to seal it 2 or 3 times in different spots so the bag will hold the seal.
Too much vacuum The reason why sous vide needs vacuum is quite simple too much air in the bag and it will float on top of the water bath with poor and uneven heat transfer. Having said this you don't need to apply a huge amount of vacuum and compress the meat. In most cases a ziplock bag and a straw will do. The problem with this device in particular is that the suction is so strong and you can't regulate it that unless you have a very dry piece of meat there will always be some small amount of juices that will be sucked into the area where the seal is to be formed. If the entire line of the seal is not 100% dry the seal will not be made properly and then you will have hot water coming into the bag from the water bath. Poor design and typical example of overkill. There should be a button where you can override the vacuum pump. I end up always double sealing i.e. seal once with vacuum then clean the insid area of the bag beyond the first seal to ensure it is clean and dry and reseal only. Finally the bags are hugely expensive. I assume sousvide supreme wants to go with the razor / razor blade model.
Stopped working after 3 months The vacuum sealer worked very well and is easy to use with my Sous Vide Supreme oven. It has a very strong vacuum and seals food quickly. Since it does have a strong vacuum I had to be very careful not to let liquids from meats or veggies get sucked into the unit. It has a Seal Only button which is very useful when you don't necessarily need a vacuum seal.Unfortunately the machine stopped working after 3 months as it no longer has the ability to suck out the air from the bags. It's quite unfortunate since I took good care of it and tried my best to prevent liquids from entering the unit. Bottom line is that this unit isn't built to last.
poor quality vacuum sealer worked fine the first couple of times. Now the unit does not seal the bags at all. Do not waste your hard earned money on this product.

Great product I have an assortment of these. This is large enough for buns bread small loaf etc. It also can be used for salads etc. The caution is to NEVER wash in dishwasher always hand wash and they will last for years.
Do Not Buy These canister will cracke ..
A bad deal at any price We've had a FoodSaver machine for about 4 years and love it we've even given a few as gifts. But we've finally had it with all of their canisters and will never buy another. They're just made too cheaply and do not last.This goes for both the round and the rectangular versions we've purchased several of each size / configuration over the years. Most recently we bought 2 each of the 1 1.5 and 2 quart rectangular canisters and 3 out of 6 have already cracked and so will no longer hold a vacuum after only 6 weeks of service.
Extends berry freshness Had a 1.5 quart like this for a couple of years so when it cracked I really wanted a replacement with the same type of cover. Most FoodSaver canisters don't have the side clips on the cover that this and my old smaller version have. It's nice because they hold the cover on even if someone neglects to seal it. I store washed blueberries in it. Washed dried and sealed in this container with a dry piece of paper towel they last through the week fully fresh. I don't use the grater so can't speak to its utility.
Foodsaver T02000079010 This Canister appeared to be a great addition to the food saver set but it busted open in the middle of the night with a big bang during my second use of the canister.
2 Qt stk cont. from FoodSaver I love this design with the folding side handles Some of my other containers have to be hand held or have gasket realigned before FoodSaver will go into a deepvacuum. The folddown handles seem to have a cam lock mechanism that prepares the canister for a more efficient seal.
Foodsaver Containers Impossible to Stack I love the Foodsaver vacuum sealer but found these hard plastic containers are poorly designed. What they didn't consider was refridgerator storage and stacking. The rounded tops prevent stacking and saving space on an already cramped fridge shelf.The vacuum valve at the top cannot get food on it because it's impossible to clean. That problem is addressed on the less expensive Foodsaver containers that simply have a rubber flap that seals once the a vacuum in achieved. But even they have that slightly rounded top again making is impossible to stack.The problem is solved by Foodsaver's new Freshsaver containers which are smaller but flat on top.I have a whole cabinet filled with Foodsaver containers that are more trouble than they're worth.
Wont hold a seal My canister does not hold a seal either. I did not even use the product within the 30 day return period with Amazon Jardin is out of stock so I have to call back in 46 weeksLooks like the wont hold seal is not a isolated problem.
Wonderful! This is a great size for large meals. The cheese grater is very convenient. It makes it easy to shred large amounts of cheese.

works great keeps coffee fresh and holds 2lbs of whole beans was shipped quickly and Tightvac is a cool company to work with. Tinted color is eye pleasing as well.
Claims Misleading I ordered several of these units after reading the claims that the containers were VACUUM storage devices. I learned they are NOT vacuum units at all. THere is a relief valve that must be pressed as the lid is slipped onto the conatainer. There is NO seal at all just a fairly close fit as the lid slides onto the container. There is no screw seal either just a twist catch. There is NO vacuum whatsoever inside the container!! If the lid is pulled off w/o pressing trhe valve there is a slight vacuum at that time but when the lid comes off it is again ambient pressure. The units are very expensive especially considering there is no vacuum as advertised.. A Tupperware container will do a better job at a much cheaper price.
tightvac have ordered already many items canisters in assorted sizesthis seller is excellent and very reliable deliver on time with reasonable prices.regarding this product to my opinion it is excellent for coffee/tea/spices/rice/pasta..etcthe products are made of good quality and content is kept airtight.

What is this This is the first time I ordered anything on line from Amazon and I was disappointed with the product mylar bags and oxygen tablets. On the order it read new bags and used bags. There was no place you could choose which one you wanted. I wanted new and I got used bags and tablets. The bags weren't in a closed container or sealed bag or anything. Why would I ever put food in an unsanitary bag? The Oxygen tablets were resealed from the original package. I am not going to risk hundreds of dollars worth of food to contaminated products. I thought Amazon was more professional than this.
Read before buying These bags are good but I wanted to use them with my vacume sealer they will not work as they have no air channel for the vacume sealer to remove the air from the bag. Otherwise product is fine.

Great Value In the past I have used mylar bag suppliers who charge much more for their products. With this deal I was able to get the Mylar bags and the oxygen absorbers for less than I would have purchased the bags for. This is a great value and I will certainly be coming back as soon as I use up this order.
bad o2 The bags were fine but the o2 absorber were all garbage. It would be nice if I had some that actually work .
Perfect for longterm food storage! These bags are the perfect size for 5 gallon buckets and have plenty of excess to allow for opening and resealing of the bags. We used 2 right away for one bucket of sugar and one bucket of rice. 24 hours after sealing them with one oxygen absorber in each bag we checked and they might as well have been vacuum sealed. I will order these again when we need more.
FAILURE I ordered the 1 and 5 gallon mylar bags with the oxygen absorbing packets watched the utube video and followed the directions and the absorbers did not work! I removed all the air possible prior to sealing and yet no shrinking or shrink wrap type contraction happened. What a waste of time! Even if I get a refund no one can get me back the time.
Easier Than I Thought it Would Be to Use These bags are now filled and sealed and have become part of my hurricane preparations. They will keep my goods safe and dry and I won't have to replace them as often. I have used them for everything from rice to dog food. All of my absorbers were in great condition and worked fine making my little 5 gallon bricks. I will be buying some more of these. You can fit far more than 5 gallons in these. If I had 6 gallon buckets I could have still had plenty of room for sealing. I did some experimenting with them in different ways of storing things with mixed results and found that the clothes iron and a 2x2 work fine for sealing. You just have to go over it a few times to make sure you are not getting channels to let air in.

Foodsaver Roll Best Buy Looked all over and this is the best deal I have found by far on this product . Look if you want but you are not going to find a better deal. Awesome product I use them for vacum sealing my venison and they work great. They also have a write on label right on the package too.
Good product Works great has air channels on one side other side is smooth. Label on the roll. Roll fits in my Foodsaver storage compartment.I use these all the time and would recommend this to anyone with a vac/sealer. I have ordered these twice and will order again.
