  • Love this machine! I shop a lot at the wholesale clubs and I asked to get this for Christmas after a friend recommended it. I love it my favorite thing to Vacuum are my coffee beans. I am from Seattle we are fanatics about our coffee I have also found that the large packs of chicken do not go bad in my freezer now and come out looking great. I have used it now almost 100 times in a few months and it has worked flawlessly.
Saving me money in groceries I purchased the Tilia Foodsaver 800 from the infomercial a few months ago with a lot of skepticism as to its performance and was ready to send it back for a refund if it turned out to be a piece of junk. Well let me tell you this thing is unbelievable!! I absolutely love it and tell everyone how pleased I am with it.I've been able to keep cut up lettuce fresh for about a week with out ever getting brown or soggy in the foodsaver canisters. Onion halfs which would usually stink up the fridge can stay for weeks in beautiful condition in the bags. Strawberries and even raspberries which normally go bad in the matter of 3 days are edible for longer.I used to throw out so much food like cheese fish & produce it was really a sinnow its all staying fresh. Even my husband who never has anything good to say says that the Foodsaver was really worth the money. Now Tilia is offering new produce saving canisters so you don't have to blanch your vegetables before you vacum seal them. They go straight from the shopping bag into the canisters. That will be my next purchase. Also the cutting blade is such a great feature because it perfectly cuts the bags straight you don't have to looking for scissors and end up cutting the bags all uneven. Another thing make room for this appliance on your counter or a shelf that way you'll use it and it won't end up collecting dust somewhere. Its just really a great product.
Wow! What a machine! I wish I would have invented this! The Tilia Foodsaver is a great kitchen device. We use it most often to vacuum seal and then freeze meats fish and poultry we buy at wholesale clubs. The variable size bags you make them to the exact size you need allow us to prepare single serving portions so we only have to thaw exactly what we are going to prepare. It's easy and fun to use and the instructional video that accompanied ours made the learning curve quite short.
Poor Quality By A Customer I strongly encourage you not to purchase this unit. Ours was a replacement for another FoodSaver which stopped working. After 6 uses the bags would not seal correctly and I had to return it Talia for repair. Once again after 3 more uses the unit stopped functioning correctly and coincidently it happened after the warranty expired. Consequently I'm stuck with a broken unit unless I want to $50+ to have it sloppily repaired.
Delivers What It Promises! I received this item from my husband for our anniversary last week at my direct request after watching the late night infomercials and looking at it in the stores for a long time. I must say this product delivers everything that it claims. I just opened the box read the brief instructions watched the video set it on my kitchen counterand off I went. It worked the first try and I have been vacuum packaging everything from blocks of cheese and flour tortillas to ground sirloin and chicken. The only thing to consider is that you have to press down on the lid with both hands to complete the process and if you have any physical or medical limitations you might want to upgrade to the newer model that allows one touch automatic sealing. All in all I think I will be using this for many years to come and can finally save $ and food at my membership wholesale club instead of throwing half of it out each month.
I think I got the last one in existence! I have owned the FoodSaver 800 for at least 7 years. Maybe more. I love it! It is an essential part of my kitchen. Recently the bottom gasket disintegrated. I couldn't find a replacement anywhere. So I started shopping for a new machine. I was distressed by the number of negative reviews of the new FoodSaver models. Finally I stumbled upon a Model 800 that was still available through Amazon. I got the last one that particular vendor had. Maybe I got the last new one in existence. It kind of looks that way. But if notthis is a great little machine. I recommend it highly. It served me well for years and years and I'm looking forward to many more years of good service from the replacement.
Well worth the investment I bought my foodsaver 800 over two years ago and it has paid for itself many times over.I now purchase the meat I want when it goes on sale at great prices and then make my own bags and freeze it. The savings of buying meat this way is unbelievable. The food comes out of the freezer as fresh as the day I sealed it.This model is basic and simple to use. You can buy a model with added features but why? This one is perfect and does the job well.
Not what it used to be We loved our old foodsaver and used it constantly for several years until it gave up the ghost and we replaced it with this one. Those who are familiar with the Foodsaver and are thinking of getting this one should be prepared for disappointment. This machine's seal strip is now much further away from the vacuum chamber meaning you lose a full 1.5 to 2 inches of bag at the top each time you seal. It used to be much less than this. Also this machine is infuratingly picky about the top of the bag being precisely placed in the vacuum chamber and if you're using a used bag that's been through the dishwasher as they say you can you can just throw it away these bags have never sealed a second time.
Paid for itself I've had my FoodSaver for about 9 months now. I ABSOLUTELY love this thing. I bought it spur of the moment and at the time wondered if like all new toys it would be used heavily for the first couple months and then get tucked away in a cabinet never to be heard from again. Nope. I still use it now as much as I did in the beginning. It's extremely easy to use and works very well. The warehouse stores have such great deals and good quality meat and fish but you have to buy in such large quantities that freezing is a necessity. Now I freeze individual portions and can keep them for extended periods of time. I just recently defrosted a piece of salmon that I had marinated and sealed in March. It tasted like I had just bought it that day. I've used it for chili steak salmon pesto. I love it so much that I'm buying one as a holiday present for my parents today. I took off one star because I don't like the canisters they take up entirely too much space in my cabinets and are not stackable. I've just heard they've come out with square cannisters hopefully these are more practical then the round ones.
Dissatisfied I did not receive the $100 coupon for accessories that the description promised. Amazon said to contact manufacturer which I did. They said they will only give coupons if bought directly from them and that Amazon is responsible for what they promise not Tilia. Dissatisfied with false advertising more than the actual product.

2-level sealing time adjustment switch controls the length of the sealing process.Accessory port allows vacuum packaging in cans, jars, bottles and canisters.Built-in roll storage holds 8-inch or 11-inch FoodSaver rolls.Built-in bag cutter cuts bags in either direction for easy bag making. Two hand press and hold operation enables easy vacuum packaging. Even first-time users will quickly get the hang of this nifty device. By vacuuming air out of food storage bags, the food inside stays fresher longer--years longer, in many cases. After food is placed in a bag, the edge is laid along the Teflon coated sealing strip and the lid closed. Two hands are required to press down on the top. A choice of two seal times, long and short, ensure that the FoodSaver’s nylon piston pump vacuums out as much air as desired: longer for wet foods, such as meats, and shorter for dry foods, such as pasta. The machine then creates a wide, tight seal.

FoodSaver’s patented dual-layer bags, made of UV-protective and FDA-approved materials, can be frozen (and prevent freezer burn on foods), microwaved, and boiled. The kit includes three quart-size and two gallon-size bags, along with an 11-inch-by-10-foot roll that can be cut with the built-in cutter to customized lengths and sealed with the Seal Only setting.
